Capricorn Digital Limited, owners of Baxi, has kicked-off a campaign tagged “Baxi2.0” to promote the empowerment of individuals, retail merchants and SME’s and deepen financial inclusion across Nigerian communities.
With the increase in growth of digital payment transactions in Nigeria rising to 10.3 trillion in January 2020, according to the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBBS), Baxi seeks to leverage on that to financially include and empower more Nigerians by launching the Baxi 2.0 application.
The figure reported is a comprehensive statistics of all Point of Sale (PoS) terminals, mobile inter-bank transfers, NIBSS’ Instant Payments (NIP), electronic bill payment and Central Pay transactions across the country. This statistics shows transaction value rose to a 28 per cent increase in comparison to 8.41 trillion recorded in January, 2019.
Baxi is one of those players who, through its platform, delivers top-notch digital products and services that cater to the daily needs of the Nigerian masses. The platform, through its agent network ranging from individuals to small business owners, merchants and large corporations who have become confident in the brand to provide seamless access to payment of bills and services.
Baxi, driven with the aim to financially include and empower more Nigerians in the payment ecosystem, developed a product called Baxi 2.0. An app that challenges the array of digital payment platforms in the country by having more unique features and exciting value-driven benefits.
In a bid to boost the economic empowerment in Nigerian communities in times like these where the job climate is on the low due to the corona virus crises around the globe and also to further engineer growth in digital payment activities, Baxi launched Baxi 2.0 on July 1st, 2020.
Baxi 2.0, an upgrade to Baxi, therefore stems from the idea to build a more rewarding payment platform that not only enables efficient and easy payment of bills and services but also integrates more people into the digital payment space by introducing features and benefits that are valuable and drives individuals and small businesses who seek to be financially included, dependent and entrepreneurial to be empowered to do so.
The app is compatible with the android and iPhone operating systems (iOS), including the Baxi POS, which is an android operating system enabled device. It is available for downloads on google and apple play store.
The product targets at least 70 per cent of the country’s population focusing on financially including the unbanked individuals, young and old, who seek to make payments for everyday basic needs such as airtime vending, electricity bills, TV bills, and Agency banking in a seamless and stress-free fashion.
Individuals can pay for products and services within the confines of their homes or offices and earn commissions. What is more is that they can also earn referral bonuses when they refer people on their network to sign-up to the app. There is also the reward for life scheme whereby they continuously earn when those they refer continue to carry out transactions on the app.
These individuals can range from the unemployed, self-employed, working class adults, families and students who pay for these services. The good news is, they earn commissions for just carrying out payment of bills and services on the app and other exciting features and rewards.
Also, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises are not left out, they are another key target for this product as they seek to leverage the product as another source of business value and income generation.
Large companies or corporations will also find the app a valuable asset, whether for income generation or business expense purposes. No one likes to go through the stress of making payments for bills and services.
People want an efficient and convenient medium of payment. That is where the Baxi 2.0 app comes in and solves the equation. For many, this app is a necessity simply because payment of bills and services is an everyday necessity, totally unavoidable.
The Baxi 2.0 app represents a new definition of a digital payment platform with an excellent user experience designed to meet user’s needs. Transactions are seamless and there is a wide range of new features, call it unique selling points, waiting to be explored.
What sets Baxi 2.0 apart from other digital payment platforms are the distinctive features such as rewards on successful sign-up and receiving money with your phone number. Your registered mobile phone number can replace your account number, this feature is particularly interesting to explore for many users who may not recollect their account numbers at a certain time.
Perhaps the most rewarding is the referral bonus, which users get when they refer someone to sign-up to the app using their user ID as a referral code. This benefit is continual as users can sign-up as many people as possible and earn referral bonuses for each sign-up.
With the increasing number of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards usage in Nigeria and the number of persons with an ATM card at 31.55 percent in 2017, who are charged daily and monthly with its frequent use, Baxi2.0 hit the bull’s eye as it seeks to eliminate these charges by introducing the virtual card feature.
The virtual card is used to make payments online. It is automatically linked to the user’s Bank Verification Number (BVN) when created, consequently, users do not need to visit the bank to request an ATM card. It comes with benefits such as zero maintenance fees and no stamp duty charges when used to carry out transactions online.
Another jinx the app breaks is the ability to transfer money to any account in Nigeria or abroad. Funds transfer around the world is an exciting feature to explore for businesses who have partners around the world or individuals who want to make transfers to others in other countries.
Baxi is able to achieve this feat largely because of its creative workforce, strong network and partnerships with PayTV service providers, commercial banks, Telecommunications, power supply distributors and others in Nigeria as it continues to provide essential services required by its consumers.
As Degbola Abudu, CEO, Capricorn Digital, owners of Baxi, rightly stated that Baxi 2.0 is geared towards empowering the Nigerian masses and is also in alignment with the company’s vision which is to have a retail presence in every street and a digital presence in every household in Nigeria.
