Chief Human Resource Officer of MTN Nigeria, Esther Akinnukawe will today upskill small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on workforce development, management and stability at the seventh Revv Programme masterclass.
The masterclass which is themed, “Managing the Most Critical Resource (The Workforce)” will hold on Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 at 10:AM.
Panelists for the masterclass include Bolaji Olagunju, founder, Workforce Group & Owners Institute; Adora Ikwuemesi, founder, Kendor Consulting; John Obaro, founder/CEO Systemspecs; Chichi Ojeme, HR expert & entrepreneur.
With over 26 years of experience in human resources management, Esther Akinnukawe provides leadership for people management solutions and practices aimed at driving outstanding employee experience. She has replicated these services and surpassed same across several industries, including consulting, education, banking and now telecommunications.
Esther has been the Chief Human Resource Officer of MTN Nigeria since 2017. Under her leadership, MTN Nigeria has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best places to work. In 2019, the telecommunication giant was awarded with the highest category of the Investors in People (IiP) certification.
After winning the IiP Standard certification in 2013 and the IiP Gold Certification in 2015, Esther and her team’s brilliance helped the ICT firm receive the Platinum certification, becoming the first Nigerian company to attain such height.
The Investors in People (IiP) accreditation is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results. The IiP certificate enables organisations to benchmark against the best in the business on an international scale.
Speaking on the certification, she said it “is a recognition of our people management practices over the years. It speaks to our credentials as an employer of choice and a great place for anyone to work and grow their career. For our people, we will continue to build upon this success.”
Esther has a vision to create an environment that inspires greatness in people while helping them unleash their own potential. At MTN Nigeria, she and her team have implemented over sixty high-impact initiatives.
Esther started her HR journey as Head of Human Capital Management at Trust Bank for Africa from 2001 to 2003 before she spent the next six years teaching at Lagos Business School (Pan African University). In 2010, she became the Head of HR Services at First City Monument Bank Plc until 2012 when she joined MTN Nigeria as General Manager Business Partnering and Services. She has gone on to be promoted to Chief Human Resource Manager.
The Revv Programme was created to reach over 10,000 small business owners using a four-pronged approach, which includes masterclasses, access to new markets, productivity tools support and expert advisory. Through the programme, MTN Nigeria aims to help entrepreneurs rethink and retool their businesses in order to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
